Instead of releasing a software update, Apple has put it upon the users to fix the problem with their routers. You can follow these simple steps in order to make sure your iPad works for all Wi-Fi networks.

Change Router Settings

In order to connect your iPad to Wi-Fi networks you must ensure that your router settings are changed. Most routers are accessible by going to the 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 ip address in your web browser. You will then need to enter your username and password for your router. If you have a dual band router that is compatible with the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz wireless spectrum bands then you will need to change the network name for each band. You will need to create a wireless network name for each band. You will need to add an N or a G to the 802.11 wireless names in your router settings.

In order to connect your iPad to wi-fi networks after it has been restarted or asleep, you need to verify that your iPad is using the same wireless protocols as your router. You can check the security type in your router settings and looking for WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc. Make sure these are the same for both the iPad and your router.

With wi-fi hot spots becoming more of a common theme in stores and restaurants, users will not have any access to control these router settings. Take control of your iPad issues today and make sure Apple is aware that it needs to have all users in mind.
